PP 1017: State of Emergency
On 24 February 2006, while the country was celebrating the 20th anniversary of the EDSA revolution that toppled the dictatorial regime of Ferdinand Marcos, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo signed Presidential Proclamation 1017 declaring a state of emergency. Demonstrators protesting the declaration clashed with police in the succeeding days. PP 1017 was lifted a week later. The photos above are part of the exhibit by 21 photographers entitled "10x17".
